Your Luxury Suite Awaits You in the Kruger National Park
The Greater Kruger National Park remains South Africa’s premier safari destination, and the largest wildlife conservancy in Africa. It’s set in one of the most accessible, yet unspoilt wilderness areas in South Africa, and continues to attract millions of visitors from all over the world each year. The area encompasses the Kruger National Park, as well as a number of adjoining private reserves.
As one of the best-known safari destinations in Africa, the Kruger National Park is also well-known for its luxury accommodations, which house adventure-seekers who are unwilling to compromise on modern luxuries in their quest to get up close and personal with Africa. You don’t have to give up air conditioning, en-suite facilities, soft linen or fine dining while enjoying your stay in the heartland of South Africa.
Game Watching and Wildlife Sightings in the Kruger National Park
The Big 5 are a classic pursuit of safari-goers, and are well-represented in the Kruger National Park, along with an array of other exciting African animals. These include giraffes, cheetahs, hippos, zebras and baboons, among many others. There is also a huge variety of birds, with more than 200 species making up the exciting display of birds in the region. Whether you want to see parrots and songbirds in their natural habitat, or a rare but exciting sighting of scavenging marabou storks or eagles, this is your best chance at catching a glimpse of them.
Keep in mind that the wildlife viewing experience in the Kruger varies not only with the seasons, but even as often as month-to-month, and at different times of the day. In the drier months of April to September, the wildlife congregates around the waterholes, making for some prime viewing spots. At the start of the region’s rainy weather, usually in October, the vegetation starts to get greener, but isn’t thick enough to reduce visibility quite yet.
By November, however, when the rains are heavier, the dense, lush flora makes game viewing harder. As a trade-off, there is an abundance of young animals. In December, expect frequent thunderstorms, but with the impala breeding season in full swing, predators lurk close by, making for some incredible potential sightings.
